Shortcut Doctor 3.1

Personally I like to keep a nice, clean desktop that is shortcut-free. For the applications I access most often I have a shortcut in the taskbar. The application’s I access on a less frequent basis, I launch from the Start menu. I do realize there are plenty of users out there who have a big bunch of shortcuts on the desktop.

My parents for example never cease to amaze me – the entire desktop is cluttered with shortcuts. Because they want “easy access to my stuff”, they always put a shortcut on the desktop. But then they move the file/application that shortcut lead to – so when I come to visit, they always ask me to help out.

I am more than glad to help out, but only because I have the right piece of software to help me out in return. Now I could manually go over all the shortcuts on the desktop and see which ones are okay and which ones are not. But that would not be a smart way to work, now would it? To easily and rapidly check these shortcuts I use the Funduc Software-developed application Shortcut Doctor.

This application will check all the program and file shortcuts on the desktop and tell me which ones are broken and which ones are okay. Shortcut Doctor will check the shortcuts and see which ones point to targets that can no longer be found. This application doesn’t work just with desktop shortcuts, it works with all your Windows shortcuts. It will uncover invalid shortcuts, then it will edit or resolve invalid shortcuts, search and replace shortcuts pointing to a certain drive or directory with another (with or without validation), search & replace shortcut command parameters, or delete shortcuts to the Recycle Bin.
